The Graduate Program in Surgical Sciences at the University of Campinas aims to train professors and researchers in various fields of knowledge encompassed by Surgical Clinics, with a focus on awarding Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Surgical Pathophysiology and Translational Surgery. The program fosters scientific development, seeking comprehensive training for both teaching and research.
El Programa de Posgrado en Ciencias de la Cirugía de la Universidad Estatal de Campinas tiene como finalidad la formación de docentes e investigadores altamente calificados en las diversas áreas del conocimiento comprendidas por la Clínica Quirúrgica. El programa otorga los títulos de Magíster y Doctor en Ciencias, con énfasis en Fisiopatología Quirúrgica y Cirugía Traslacional, promoviendo el desarrollo científico y ofreciendo una formación integral orientada tanto a la docencia como a la investigación.

4. Admission Process/Proceso de Admisión:
4.1 Analyze the CV of each advisor and evaluate which advisor interests you. Analice el currículum de cada profesor y evalúe cuál de ellos resulta de su interés (Accredited Lectures/ Profesores Acreditados).
4.2 Contact the advisor by email and schedule a meeting. Póngase en contacto con el profesor por correo electrónico y agende una reunión.
4.3 If the advisor agrees to supervise, both the student and the advisor must prepare a research project. Si el profesor acepta ser su director, tanto el estudiante como el profesor deberán elaborar un proyecto de investigación.

4.7 Since the program offers a limited number of scholarships (for example, through public agencies like CAPES and CNPq), the scholarships will only be allocated after the entire selection process is completed. A quantitative analysis of both the candidate’s and advisor’s CVs will be conducted. Priority for scholarships will be given to students who are fully dedicated to working in the laboratory. Important: It is for the student to contact the professors chosen to compose the board on the availability, date and time as well as deliver the invitations.
Importante: El estudiante debe entrar en contacto con los profesores seleccionados para la junta directiva en tiempo hábil en relación a la fecha y a la hora del evento. Además, el alumno debe entregar las invitaciones.
About the Examination / Sobre el examen:
• Masters: consists of Methodological Training evaluation, where the student must give an expository, clear and didactic class, on one of the methods used in the development of his/her dissertation. The duration of the class must be from 30 to 60 minutes.
• Maestros: consiste en la evaluación de formación metodológica, en ella el estudiante debe dar una clase expositiva, clara y didáctica, empleando uno de los métodos utilizados en la elaboración de su disertación. La duración de la clase debe ser de 30 a 60 minutos.
• Doctorate: consists of a Scientific Training evaluation, where the student must submit, in an expository, objective and didactic manner, an original research plan, related to the thesis project. The plan should include the definition of objectives, the methodological aspects and a literature review on the theme. The exposure time is 30 to 60 minutes.
• Doctores: consiste en una evaluación de Estudios Científicos, en ella el estudiante debe presentar, de manera expositiva, objetiva y didáctica, un plan de su investigación original relacionado con el proyecto de tesis. El plan debe incluir la definición de objetivos, los aspectos metodológicos y una revisión de la literatura sobre el tema. El tiempo de exposición es de 30 a 60 minutos.
The Qualifying Examination will be held for a board of examiners composed of three full professors and one alternate, holders of at least the title of Doctor. The Advisor is the president of the board.
El examen de calificación se llevará a cabo ante un jurado compuesto por tres profesores titulares y un suplente, los titulares con al menos el título de Doctor. El Asesor es el presidente de la junta directiva.
At the time of the examination, the President will develop along with the others a final assessment to be delivered to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Post-Graduate Program Commission. The assessment shall include if the student passed or failed.
En el momento del examen, el Presidente presentará junto con los demás un dictamen final que será entregado a la Comisión del Programa de Postgrado en Ginecología y Obstetricia. El dictamen incluirá la aprobación o desaprobación del estudiante.
In case of failure, further examination will be carried out.
En caso de desaprobación, un examen más detenido se llevará a cabo.
